Congratulations to Kayla and Bella!
These young women are graduating from the University of Oregon in June, and we had a great graduation cap and gown session on the Oregon campus a few days ago. The demand for cap and gown sessions is increasing with both college seniors, and high school seniors. In this, and other sessions I have done at the Oregon and Oregon State Campuses, we do lifestyle portraits in front of, around and near the student's favorite places along with campus buildings where they spent time, and iconic campus locations. At the University of Oregon, the big O in front of the Lillis Business Center is a big draw, but also behind that building is some real prime area for capturing amazing photographs. There is competition for clear space at some areas, including Lillis and across the Alton Baker canal behind Autzen Stadium. Be prepared to wait for a shot, especially in the evening hours.
When I do a cap and gown session, I use both natural light, but also supplement with off camera strobe lighting. Typically 60-70% of my images are taken with a portable strobe setup as it warms the scene and provides a needed "pop" in most cases.
There is still time to book a session before graduation in June but the preferred time slots are getting full.
As always if I can assist anyone with booking a shoot, a question, or a referral please contact me or leave me a comment below.
